Pakistan Literacy
Project (PLP)
PLP is a citizens effort to supplement existing efforts to help
achieve needed literacy with maximum Pakistanis able to read, write
and do basic arithmetic to become well-informed citizens. PLP relies
on carefully designed curriculum as well as devoted community
volunteers, for fast spread of literacy in Pakistan.
Based on survey's, communities are selected to establish Literacy
Centers at either teachers' homes or community centers, to keep it
low cost program for greater productivity. Volunteerism and
Philanthropy are two important pillars of this program.
The
objective is to achieve almost 100% literacy in community selected
for establishing centers under PLP. This initiative will be
essentially focused on the female population in Pakistan.
The
following services are offered by PLP:

Conducting the survey of communities for
selection.

Training the teachers (‘Rahnuma’) who will
subsequently impart knowledge and skills to the students.

Upon completion of courses, organizing
award ceremonies and distribution of students certificates
later, providing subject-related books and reference material.
